Getting to Know You…Bay Area
I’ve visited San Francisco before and checked some stuff off the tourist list, but this is my current ambitious ‘to do’ list:
HEAR:Treasure Island Music FestivalJason Mraz Gratitude Café Tour (contingent on ability to volunteer - fingers crossed!)
SEE:Academy of Sciences on Free Third WednesdaysMoMA on Free First TuesdaysThe Outdoor Exploratorium, Fort Mason Center
INSIDE: City Lights Bookstore826 Valencia - ARRRRR! Matey.
OUTSIDE:Yerba Buena Gardens San Francisco Botanical Gardens
PLAY:Critical Mass on the last Friday of the MonthRide the Wiggle around San Francisco Women’s 10K during the 11/01 US Half Marathon
IN THE AREA:Hearst Castle 17-Mile Drive
It’s safe to say that my visit to New York in October is on hold as I figure out how badly I’m crushing on this new city.

I love this list! My trip in September ‘08 was packed with quite a few sites and sounds and experiences. It looks like my missed trip (weep a little for missing Power to the Peaceful) will be rescheduled for late October.
Here’s what I did last time: Pier 39, walked parts of the Barbary Coast Trail, Golden Gate Park, bike ride to the zoo, Chinatown, hidden little fortune cookie factory, the Presidio, City Lights Bookstore, Alamo Park/Full House house, the Mission District (where my mom lived at the time), lots of thrift/vintage store shopping, MoMA & Fridah Kahlo Exhibit, trolley car rides (including old Philly cars - holla!), Oakland A’s game, hike up Telegraph Hill to Coit Tower (after watching the documentary “Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill”), a side trip to Pidgeon Point Lighthouse to stay overnight in the hostel - also included stopping at a marine reserve and checking out Santa Cruz, a trip across the bridge to Sausalito, getting a tattoo at Mom’s Body Shop on Haight St. I know there was more…
Hopefully in October: Aquarium of the Bay, whale watching tour, kayaking, bike ride somewhere, hopefully another tattoo at Mom’s, maybe catching NJ’s The Gaslight Anthem at the Fillmore? There will be lots to do!
